NDSH - Jamestown, ND - Addiction Counselor
The North Dakota State Hospital (NDSH), located in Jamestown, is a specialized psychiatric hospital that serves the whole state. Services focus on psychiatric rehabilitation, residential substance use disorders treatment, and residential treatment for sexually dangerous individuals.
As an Addiction Counselor, you will provide substance use disorder evaluation and treatment services to adults within the Tompkins Rehabilitation Center and within other areas of NDSH as needed. Facilitate sessions with clients as determined by treatment plan and program schedules. Assure appropriate placement level of all clients and provide treatment according to the American Society of Addiction Medicine guidelines. Lead and/or Co-lead group therapy with ongoing assessment of client progress. Provide individual, group and family therapy, case management and behavioral management. Collect information from client, family, courts, and agencies. Community Liaison for team meetings, staffing, courts, human service centers, private agencies, community-based self-help groups, families, and employers.
To be considered for the Addiction Counselor position, you are required to have a bachelor's degree in Addiction Counseling, Addiction Studies, Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology, AND have current licensure as an Addiction Counselor (LAC) by the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners.
We will consider filling with an Addiction Tech at a lower pay rate - Must have completed all but two academic courses required for the addiction counseling field in a bachelor's or master's degree program, this includes Addiction Counseling, Addiction Studies, Social Work, Counseling or Psychology. Individuals in this class must complete all coursework, training, and/or tests and obtain an addiction counselor license from the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners within 6 months of the date hired. In order to be considered for an Addiction Tech position you must have applied to be part of an Addiction Consortium and accepted by the North Dakota Board of Addiction Counseling Examiners.
