The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking a summer Intern in Model and Data Development to assist with carrying out travel modeling activities. The NCTCOG develops, maintains, and disseminates the only regional travel model for all transportation agencies in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. Ideal candidates should live within the Dallas-Fort Worth region and be able to work at least 20 - 25 hours per week from approximately mid-May to mid-August 2026. Continuing employment opportunities may be available for Interns who are successful in this position and live in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Working with supervisor to clean up transportation data
- Drafting for supervisor review, technical documentation for computer programs
- Working with supervisor to run and analyze the regional transportation model
- Creating for supervisor review, traffic micro simulation models
- Working with supervisor to perform data analysis using existing databases
Required Skills

- Basic knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Basic knowledge of data analysis and statistics
- Basic knowledge of the Python programming language
- Good communication, both verbal and written, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen to and follow instructions, coordinate with other team members, and present ideas
- Detail oriented, highly organized, with an ability to handle multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Required Education and Experience
- Must be attending an accredited college or university in a master’s degree-seeking program during employment

Starting Salary
Minimum of $17.10 per hour
