Maintenance Manager – Facilities & Engineering
I am partnering with a food and pharmaceutical manufacturing organization to find an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead facility and equipment reliability across its production operations. This role is responsible for overseeing maintenance teams and ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of production equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure.
The Maintenance Manager provides strategic leadership for preventive and predictive maintenance programs, troubleshooting complex systems, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve asset performance. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys developing teams, improving systems, and supporting high-performance manufacturing operations.
You will get to:
- Lead and develop the maintenance team through coaching, training, performance management, and succession planning
- Ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of production equipment, utilities, and facility infrastructure in accordance with OSHA, PSM, and environmental safety standards
- Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and extend asset lifecycle
- Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for major plant systems such as steam, refrigeration, vacuum, compressed air, and nitrogen
- Oversee maintenance support for production equipment including packaging and processing systems
- Plan and execute capital projects including scope development, budgeting, contractor selection, installation, and start-up
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation using Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems, including work orders, labor tracking, materials, and equipment history
- Develop and manage departmental budgets covering labor, materials, services, and capital expenditures
- Coordinate external contractors and vendors to ensure quality, compliance, and timely project completion
- Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and EHS teams to support production needs and long-term infrastructure planning
- Support plant safety programs including hazardous materials response and enforcement of critical safety procedures such as LOTO, confined space, and hot work
The skills and experience you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing/Operations Management, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 6 years of maintenance experience in food, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
- At least 3 years of leadership experience managing maintenance teams
- Strong technical expertise with industrial utilities and manufacturing equipment, including systems such as ammonia refrigeration, steam, vacuum, and compressed air
- Experience supporting manufacturing and packaging equipment in regulated production environments
- Mechanical and electrical competency; applicable certifications such as Oregon Millwright card or Oregon LME/Journeyman Electrical license (or equivalent) preferred
- Experience using ERP/EAM systems, Microsoft Project, and Excel to manage maintenance planning, work orders, and capital projects
- Proven leadership and communication skills with the ability to develop high-performing teams, manage contractors, and collaborate across departments
