POSITION SUMMARY The Head Tennis Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Alma College's intercollegiate men's and women's tennis programs. This includes coaching, recruiting, budget management, fundraising, community engagement, and academic support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Lead the men's and women's tennis programs in practices, competitions, and off-court development. - Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes; implement a strategic recruiting plan. - Manage team operations including practice planning, match scheduling, and travel logistics. - Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches. - Scout opponents and develop competitive strategies. - Monitor academic progress, retention, and eligibility of student-athletes. - Foster a culture of good sportsmanship and personal accountability. - Develop and communicate clear expectations to student-athletes regarding performance, behavior, and academic standards. - Collaborate with support staff in facilities, transportation, and game operations. - Assist with departmental alumni engagement and community outreach efforts. - Ensure full compliance with NCAA, MIAA, and institutional rules and policies. - Participate actively in athletic department meetings, initiatives, and campus-wide events. - Plan and execute program fundraising efforts. - Support the mission and values of Alma College and the athletics department.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 2 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level or demonstrated success as a head coach at the high school level
- Knowledge of NCAA and MIAA rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, event and camp planning, recruiting success, and budget management.
- Commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Willingness to actively coach, including on-court participation.
- Availability for evening and weekend work and overnight travel.

- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

- Master's degree
- Prior coaching experience at an NCAA Division III institution
