Description of Work This Telecommunications Consultant works primarily to promote the Equipment Distribution Service (EDS) and Telecommunications Resources Program (TRP) and serves in the Wilmington Regional Center in Wilmington, NC. The individual in this position works with individuals who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing in a 12-county region North Carolina. This position travels extensively within the region and occasionally outside the region. Job responsibilities include the following: -Provide consultation services for telecommunications access and hearing loss assistive technology -Deliver presentations at information sessions to the community in various locations within the 12 counties -Conduct telephone & equipment demonstration and consultation during home visits -Provide technical assistance related to telecommunications equipment -Public outreach to agencies/businesses regarding EDS and TRP through presentations -Maintain the Regional Center demonstration and loaner equipment -Participate in job fairs, health fairs and other community events to increase awareness of EDS and TRP which may require an adjusted schedule to work after normal working hours, including evenings and weekends -Extensive travel is required within, and occasionally outside, the 12-county region; loading and unloading equipment including some lifting; exhibit booth and demonstration set up also required. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Range: $32,287 - $56,502 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred. Knowledge of installing and troubleshooting telecommunications equipment and hearing loss assistive technology for individuals who are Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard of Hearing (HOH) Demonstrated ability assessing the equipment needs of consumers Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft products: Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint Ability to train individuals on the use of telecommunications equipment Knowledge and experiences with Hard of Hearing, Deaf, DeafBlind individuals' needs This position will close at 11:59 p.m. the night before the end date.
