This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.

This temporary position is located in 1915 Health Services Way- Wake County with the Department of Health and Human Services.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $40.89 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). 

Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.  The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

Management Preferences: 

  • This role will support I/DD, TBI, and Olmstead section initiatives such as Inclusion Connects and Inclusion Works.
  • The IDD Consultant will focus on housing, employment, and community living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • This role is critical in advancing inclusive housing solutions and supporting policy development that aligns with best practices and legal standards.
  • This person will serve as a subject matter expert on housing options and community living, including those specific and nonspecific to individuals with IDD.
  • Key responsibilities include collaborating with internal and external partners on barriers to community living and employment, promoting integrated and community-based solutions, and analyzing and interpreting regulations, polices, and funding mechanisms for individuals with IDD.

Minimum Education And Experience

Master's degree in a discipline relative to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of related experience; or Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relative to the program area from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
