Description Of Work
Recruitment Range: $35,000 - $42,230

The Primary Purposes Of This Position Include
- Evaluating, inventorying, and receiving incoming evidence submissions.
- Ensuring the proper identification, barcoding, and remediation of items of evidence.
- Proper storage placement of evidence and record of chain of custody.
- Delivery and pick up of evidence to/from assigned sections.
- Displaying knowledge of the correct disposition of evidence upon completion of analysis.
- Assisting law enforcement officers with evidence submissions and laboratories' capabilities.
- Providing professional testimony to chain of custody in court proceedings.
Some travel, including some occasional overnight stays are required.
The Selected Candidate Will Undergo And Must Successfully Complete a Comprehensive Background Investigation Which May Take Several Months To Complete. The Background Investigation Includes
- polygraph
- credit and arrest checks
- interviews with associates to include personal and business references, past employers, and neighbors
- verification of education achievement
- fingerprinting
- urinalysis drug screening
Out of state applicants: After the initial interview, this may require the applicant to return to the State of North Carolina multiple times at his or her own expense to undergo the background investigation process.

Minimum Education And Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience." High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in law enforcement support activities which includes evidence and handling protocols, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
