Description Of Work

This Administrative Associate II position is with the Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing and is located in the Charlotte Regional Center. This position is responsible for providing a comfortable office environment for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or deaf-blind.

Job Responsibilities Include The Following

  • Responsible for training regarding in-house office procedures for new staff
  • Handles end of day closing processes for the regional center
  • Knowledge of the programs and operations of the division that are essential to appropriately route visitors and callers
  • Responsible for logistics and taking minutes associated with meetings

The Division of Services for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing (DSDHH) assures equal access to North Carolina citizens who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $32,500 - $49,340

Recruitment Range: $32,500 - $37,595

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred.

  • Exceptional Customer Service; ability to use TTY and video phone;
  • Basic knowledge of working with consumers with various degree of hearing loss.
  • Basic sign language skills is a preference, and must be willing to learn if there is no prior possession of these skills.
  • Previous office administration experience including filing, scheduling employment, drafting documents, and processing mail.

The Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing works to ensure that all Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or DeafBlind North Carolinians have the ability to communicate their needs and to receive information easily and effectively in all aspects of their lives, especially their health and well-being.

Veterans’ and National Guard Preference

  • Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS), along with the state application, if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
  • Applicants who are former members of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard, with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service, must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22, along with the state application.
