Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Production Lead to own all production floor and warehouse operations. This role is responsible for ensuring jobs are completed on time, efficiently, and to quality standards while leading the production team with full authority.
This is a newly established leadership role designed to support continued growth. The Production Lead will be responsible for building structure on the production side of the business while working closely with the Director of Commercial Operations on scheduling, materials, and workflow alignment.
Success in this role requires strong leadership, consistency, and the ability to earn trust from a tenured, Spanish-speaking production team by learning the operation before implementing changes.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Leadership
- Lead and manage production staff with full authority
- Execute daily production schedules and ensure deadlines are met
- Maintain accountability for team performance and workflow execution
- Ensure production output is consistent, efficient, and aligned with priorities
Production Execution & Output
- Ensure jobs are completed accurately and on time
- Maintain consistent product quality standards
- Identify and resolve production issues and bottlenecks
- Support continuous improvement after gaining full operational understanding
Warehouse & Shipping Operations
- Oversee warehouse organization and daily workflow
- Ensure all orders are staged and prepared for shipment on time
- Coordinate with office team to ensure shipping readiness aligns with order schedules
Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate floor-level inventory usage and visibility
- Monitor material consumption and flag shortages or inefficiencies
- Ensure materials are staged properly to support production flow
Weekly Purchase Order (PO) Review Process
The Production Lead is responsible for gathering, organizing, and prioritizing all non-customer-order material needs for regular operations and stock.
Each week, the Production Lead will:
- Collect material needs from production staff (consumables, stock items, operational supplies, etc.)
- Identify required parts, materials, and supplies needed for ongoing operations
- Gather and document key information for each item:
- Part number (if applicable)
- Vendor
- Quantity needed
- Estimated lead time (if known)
- Evaluate urgency and prioritize operational needs
- Conduct a weekly PO review process with the team
- Compile all approved needs into a structured PO request list
This compiled list is submitted to the Director of Commercial Operations for review and purchase order creation.
The Production Lead does not create or send purchase orders directly to vendors.
Maintenance & Facility Oversight
- Implement and manage routine maintenance programs
- Ensure equipment and production space are maintained for safety and efficiency
- Report maintenance needs and coordinate resolution through proper channels
