Position Summary

St. David’s School seeks an accomplished, collaborative educator who is called to invest in the lives of middle grade students to join the Mathematics Department as a Middle School Mathematics Teacher. This position involves teaching students with a wide range of abilities, including coursework up through Pre-Algebra and Algebra. The role also includes serving as a Middle School Advisor, supporting and guiding students through the transition from Middle School to Upper School.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Teach Middle School mathematics classes, including Pre-Algebra and Algebra-level concepts
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varied learning abilities
  • Foster deep conceptual understanding along with procedural fluency in mathematics
  • Create an engaging, inquiry-based classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creative thinking, and disciplined reasoning
  • Utilize hands-on and interactive teaching strategies to make mathematical concepts meaningful
  • Serve as a Middle School Advisor, shepherding students through academic, social, and developmental milestones
  • Support the broader mission and values of St. David’s School through active participation in school life

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (required)
  • Experience teaching middle grade students strongly preferred
  • Strong content knowledge in middle school mathematics
  • Commitment to nurturing intellectual curiosity and a love of learning
  • Passion for working with young people and supporting their growth during the middle school years
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in a close-knit academic environment
