Primary Responsibilities
- Teach middle school English courses with an emphasis on reading, writing, grammar, and language development
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, close reading, thoughtful discussion, and joyful learning
- Support students in developing clear, confident written and oral communication skills
- Challenge students to grow intellectually while cultivating enthusiasm for literature and learning
- Serve as an advisor to a small group of students, supporting their academic and personal development
- Participate in the broader life of the school through involvement in athletics, fine arts, or extracurricular activities
- Uphold and advance the mission and values of St. David’s School
- Bachelor’s degree in English Education, Elementary Education, English, or a related field (required)
- Three or more years of middle school teaching experience preferred
- Master’s degree in Education, Literacy, or a related field preferred
- Strong content knowledge and effective instructional practices for middle school learners
- Passion for working with adolescents and supporting their growth during the formative middle school years
