Senior Home: Recreational Therapist/Activity Team Assistant

Recommended Job Qualifications:

• Education: A bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation is preferred or at least 1 years of on the job experience.
• A person certified as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification or another certification/licensing organization equivalent to NCTRC is also preferred.
• Be in good health, and physically and mentally capable of performing assigned tasks.
• Must be available to work some weekends and holidays.
• The usual shifts are between 9am to 530pm and 10:30am to 7pm but that could change depending on the needs of the residents.

Assigned Tasks:

• Check the daily events board to make sure it accurately reflects the activity programs and times taking place for the day.
• Direct the program of activities as printed and posted and assigning program leadership.
• Supervise residents during activity programs lead by those from outside Nazareth House ( community college teachers, groups from community, volunteers, etc)
• Invite, motivate and escort residents to and from activities.
• Lead small and large group activities.
• Provide 1:1 visits and complete all documentation.
• Make activity announcements over the PA system.
• Help create and prepare activity calendar.
• Make and laminate all new activities for daily events board.
• Make birthday cards and invitations on computer in preparation for monthly birthday social.
• Distribute printed monthly activity calendar to residents and those staff that receive one.
• Provide an opportunity for residents to participate in calendar planning seeking ideas, feedback and suggestions.
• Research and implement new activity program ideas brought forth by residents or on own doing
• Comply with Title 22 and other regulations that relate to the Activity Department

Your expertise in group therapy and recreational therapy will foster social interaction and emotional well-being. Additionally, your premium skills in music therapy and experience with developmental disabilities will enrich the therapeutic environment, ensuring that all clients receive compassionate and effective care tailored to their unique needs.

Pay: $18.00 - $18.50 per hour
