What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Aide or Certified Nurse Aide position at Nazareth Convent and Academy Corporation?
The primary function of the Nurse Aide is to provide high-quality health/wellness assistance to the Stafford Hall residents in a positive, encouraging atmosphere. Principal responsibilities include facilitating the Sisters in following their individual health/wellness plans and providing appropriate personal care and assistance with activities of daily living and health-related needs. These activities should contribute to the service team’s objective of meeting the health/wellness needs of the Stafford Hall residents with appropriate consideration for independence, comfort, sanitation, proper medical procedure and personal dignity in harmony with the CSJ philosophy of aging.
:
1) Providing personal care and hygiene for residents.
2) Monitoring condition of Sisters and rooms; answering call lights promptly; carefully observing Sisters' physical status, attitudes, reactions, appetite, etc. and reporting significant changes. Promoting comfort, safety, and good health.
3) Performing and/or assisting with medical procedures and resident mobility as directed by a licensed nurse. Using proper technique in completing procedures, patient transfers, and in the use of medical equipment and supplies.
4) Assisting Sisters with menu selection within proper dietary restrictions; serving meals, and providing snacks & drinks upon request.
5) Complying with departmental procedures, the Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan, and infection control.
6) Performing or assisting Sisters with "household" chores, recreational activities, and housekeeping tasks.
7) Performing and/or assisting with clerical-type duties of the nursing unit as directed.
8) Transporting Sisters to off-site medical and dental appointments. Running errands off-site as directed. (Examples: taking blood to the hospital lab, picking up medication at the pharmacy.)
9) When designated as the Nurse Aide in charge, performing additional duties which include, but are not limited to:
a) controlling the keys and access to the med room, med cart, and treatment supply cabinets
b) providing basic first aid when needed
c) documenting appropriate information on the nursing 24-hour sheet
d) administering routine medications as ordered and documenting appropriately
e) giving and receiving shift report on each Sister’s condition
f) supervising other Nurse Aides as assigned
10) Maintaining confidentiality of Sisters’ medical information at all times
11) Effectively communicating with and relating to Sisters, medical providers, and other employees; effectively working as part of a team.
12) Working days and hours as assigned; attending in-service training, continuing education, and other required training sessions.
13) Maintaining employment policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook including but not limited to: proper use of the time clock, proper dress and grooming, rest breaks, and standards of conduct.
14) Performing other duties as assigned.
Pay: $13.76 - $16.50 per hour
