Summary

This position is located at Navy Lake Site Allatoona, Cartersville, GA, under operational control of MWR, Naval Submarine Base, Kings Bay, GA. (Lake Allatoona is a 52-acre recreation area, 30 miles north of Atlanta. The NLSA offers rental cabins, RV/tent campsites, marina, beach/swimming area and an abundance of outdoor recreation space.) This position assists with facilities maintenance work executing tasks with the use of skills associated with a variety of trades.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

Ensures security of all guests is maintained at all times. Ensures guest privacy is maintained at all times. The incumbent is responsible for a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks involving standard methods related to the operation and maintenance of physical plant facilities. Performing work in at least two of the following trades in the maintenance and repair of buildings and related fixtures. Maintains work order log and follow up as required. Reports status to supervisor. Logs trouble calls with contractor as appropriate. Plumbing: Makes basic plumbing repairs to sinks, faucets, commodes, tanks, urinals, P-traps, shut-off valves on washing machines and water supply that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, resealing, replacing defective parts or units, installing water heaters, garbage disposals, faucets and sinks. Washer/Dryer repair: Performs routine maintenance on washers and dryers to include cleaning lint ducts and vents, replacing hoses and fittings as required, and referring more complex problems to supervisor for action. Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC): Recognizes the cause of faulty equipment and assists making repairs on a variety of HVAC units as appropriate. Electrical: Recognizes and reports electrical problems making repairs as appropriate. Replaces fluorescent and incandescent ballasts, bulbs and tubes. Carpentry: Measures, cuts and constructs or repairs wood or wood substitute items. Conducts basic carpentry repairs such as repairing or replacing screens; window and door frames; molding and trim; and repair and replacement of drywall or similar products. Painting: Preparation of areas and standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling and spraying and ensure surfaces are fully coated, protected and free from drips and runs. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms.
  • Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
  • May be required to pass pre-employment examinations.
  • A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles.

Experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum two years of experience with demonstrated skill in two areas (Carpentry, Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Painting). Knowledge in applicable combination of trades sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, tools, mechanical and electrified equipment, commonly used chemicals and basic safe work practices is required.
  • Must possess a welcoming manner and positive attitude; demonstrate effective communication skills; professionally interact with guests; answering guest questions concerning facilities; and provide information about local attractions. Provide assistance in handling customer complaints, involving management as necessary.
  • Must possess basic math and reading skills.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
