This position is located in the Auto Hobby Shop, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR), Department of the Quality of Life Division and the Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) in Barking Sands, Kaua'i. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period. Major Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performs clear and specific receiving, storing and issuance assignments of tools, equipment and shop work areas
- Assists with resale purchase requirements, pricing, stocking and control of all merchandise resale items
- Operates a computerized point of sale system for inventory control and management
- Performs housekeeping tasks to ensure proper standards of appearance, cleanliness and safety of assigned spaces
- Performs minor repairs requiring simple hand tools
Physical Effort and Working Conditions:
- Employee works on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions
- Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 10 pounds independently, may occasionally lift up to 40 pounds with assistance from equipment or other workers
- Work is generally in areas that are well lighted, heated and ventilated
- May occasionally work in areas that are drafty, dirty, dusty and greasy
- Frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, scrapes and bruises

- Must pass all applicable records and background investigation.

- Knowledge of marked tools and parts to be able to compare data on items to identify data in documents and at storage locations
- Knowledge of documentation requirements pertaining to issuance and turn-in of tools and parts
- Knowledge of basic inventory practices to be able to assist in stock control
- Knowledge of automated and/or mechanized systems sufficient to scan bar codes, enter and extract automated information and operate point of sale system
- Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements
- Ability to perform minor repairs and servicing
- Ability to provide quality customer services
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Travel is not required for this position
