Job Title: Sterile Supply Technician
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Duration: 14 Weeks
Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM (Includes weekends and holidays; schedule may rotate based on department needs)
Position Overview
The Sterile Supply Technician is responsible for the safe and effective decontamination, disinfection, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment used across operating rooms and clinical areas. This role ensures adherence to aseptic techniques, quality standards, and timely support for clinical teams, including urgent and emergent requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments and trays
- Assemble both simple and complex surgical instrument sets with precision and accuracy
- Operate sterilization equipment including steam sterilizers, Steris, and Sterrad systems
- Conduct and document quality checks to ensure compliance with sterilization standards
- Monitor and record sterilization and decontamination processes
- Respond promptly to urgent and emergent equipment needs from clinical staff
- Maintain adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
- Handle and operate cleaning and disinfecting equipment safely and effectively
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a nationally accredited Central Service Technician certification OR
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a Central Service Technician in a healthcare facility
- Ability to pass pre-employment health clearance requirements
Skills & Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the field is required
- Certification as a Central Service Technician is required
- Completion of a nationally accredited central service technician exam is highly preferred
