Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to support surgical and clinical teams by ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared. This role is critical in maintaining patient safety and supporting efficient surgical operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment
- Assemble and prepare both simple and complex surgical instrument trays
- Operate sterilization equipment, including:
- Steam sterilizers
- Low-temperature sterilization systems (e.g., Steris, Sterrad)
- Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards
- Monitor and document sterilization processes and outcomes
- Maintain strict adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Respond promptly to urgent and emergent instrument requests from clinical teams
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and distribution of sterile supplies
- Collaborate with operating room and clinical staff to meet procedural needs
Requirements:
- Certification as a Central Service Technician from a nationally accredited organization
OR - Minimum 1 year of experience as a Sterile Processing/Central Service Technician in a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of sterilization processes and infection control practices
- Ability to operate sterilization and decontamination equipment
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
- Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
