Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Microbiology Manager to lead laboratory operations in a high-volume clinical setting. This role is responsible for overseeing daily lab functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving quality improvement initiatives to support accurate and timely patient care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily microbiology laboratory operations, including technical and non-technical staff
- Manage staffing, scheduling, hiring, and onboarding processes
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and staff development
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, FDA, and CMS
- Oversee quality control and quality assurance programs
- Lead accreditation readiness and regulatory inspections
- Collaborate with the Medical Director on policies, procedures, and performance metrics
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain effective communication across departments and leadership teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field
- National Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS)
- Minimum 3 years of recent Microbiology Technologist experience
- Experience in a high-volume hospital or central laboratory setting
- Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in a related field
- 3–5 years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Proven ability to manage teams and drive operational improvements
