Job Title: Healthcare Transportation Technician (SPD Logistics)
Location: Elmhurst, IL
Duration: 14 Weeks (Potential for Permanent Placement)
Schedule: 40 hours/week | 5 days/week
Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Payrate: $22/hr. w2
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable Healthcare Transportation Technician to support the safe and timely delivery of sterilized surgical instruments between facilities and healthcare locations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining operational efficiency, compliance, and high standards within a sterile processing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a company vehicle (van or truck) for delivery and pickup of surgical instruments
- Load and unload carts and totes while ensuring product integrity and safety
- Follow assigned delivery routes using GPS and routing systems
- Obtain proof of delivery (POD) and maintain accurate documentation and logs
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Adhere to DOT regulations, safety protocols, and infection control standards
- Handle materials using proper PPE and biohazard safety guidelines
- Maintain professional communication with healthcare clients and staff
- Report delays, issues, or customer feedback to management in a timely manner
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of commercial or route-based driving experience
- Valid Class C driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to push/pull carts up to 400 lbs
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Ability to follow safety, compliance, and infection control procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in healthcare logistics, hospital transportation, or sterile processing (SPD) environments
- Prior customer-facing or service experience
