Job Title: EEG Technician
Location: Edison, NJ
Duration: 38 Weeks (Possibility of Extension)
Schedule: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Must be flexible to cover 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Shifts: Weekends and holidays as needed
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled EEG Technician to perform comprehensive electro-neurophysiology monitoring within a Neurology/Epilepsy program. The role involves operating EMU equipment, monitoring patients, recording electrophysiological data, and collaborating with physicians to support accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and document patient medical and seizure history, including contraindications
- Educate patients and families on procedures and expectations
- Continuously monitor patients during EEG procedures and report seizure activity
- Respond promptly to patient emergencies and notify clinical staff as needed
- Collaborate with neurologists and neurosurgeons in lab, bedside, and operating room settings
- Apply and manage various electrode types and monitoring equipment
- Record and analyze electrophysiology data, adjust settings, and identify artifacts
- Perform activation procedures and assist in generating diagnostic reports
- Maintain and troubleshoot EMU equipment and monitoring systems
- Provide in-service training to staff members as needed
- Deliver patient-centered care based on individual needs (age, culture, language, etc.)
- Maintain compliance with organizational and clinical standards
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited EEG program OR minimum 2 years of EEG experience in lieu of formal training
- Experience with patient monitoring and electrophysiology procedures
Certifications & Licensure
- In process of obtaining ABRET registration required
Preferred Skills
- Experience with EEG, Evoked Potentials, and Nerve Conduction studies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in high-pressure clinical environments
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
