Position Overview
A reputable healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Clinician (LICSW) to support patients in the Emergency Department. This role focuses on psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, and care coordination to ensure safe and appropriate patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and behavioral health assessments for ED patients
- Provide crisis counseling and short-term therapeutic interventions
- Develop and coordinate discharge and aftercare plans
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, APRNs, and interdisciplinary teams
- Facilitate referrals for inpatient psychiatric care and outpatient services
- Assist patients and families with care planning and placement decisions
- Coordinate with community agencies and support services
- Perform mandated reporting (child abuse, elder abuse) as required
- Conduct follow-up calls to ensure continuity of care
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, audits, and quality assurance initiatives
- Triage incoming referrals and coordinate appropriate placements
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, or similar setting required
Education
- Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) required
Certifications & Licensure
- Active Massachusetts LICSW license required
- CPI/MAB de-escalation certification required (or must obtain within 90 days of hire)
