Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, leadership-driven Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to oversee Medical-Surgical units. In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Nursing (DON) and serve as a key leader in driving clinical excellence, managing unit operations, and mentoring nursing staff.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) to implement facility policies, clinical protocols, and departmental goals
- Oversee daily clinical and administrative operations of the Medical-Surgical units
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission standards
- Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, satisfaction, and reduced readmissions
- Support evidence-based nursing practices and operational excellence
- Mentor Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses, and staff RNs to support professional growth and team development
- Optimize staffing patterns to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios and efficient workflow
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, annual evaluations, and competency tracking for nursing staff
- Foster a collaborative, patient-focused, and supportive work environment
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- Master’s Degree (MSN, MHA, or MBA) highly preferred
- Minimum 3–5 years of acute care clinical experience within a Medical-Surgical setting required
- Minimum 2–3 years of progressive nursing leadership experience required
- BLS Certification required
- Advanced certifications such as CMSRN or NE-BC preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, conflict-resolution, and organizational skills required
- Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms preferred
