Position Summary
The Concrete Foreman is responsible for supervising and executing all aspects of concrete work on assigned projects. This includes formwork, placement, finishing, curing, and repairs. The Foreman must demonstrate expertise in concrete construction methods, crew leadership, and safety practices to ensure projects are completed to specification, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct crews in pouring, finishing, and repairing concrete structures.
- Read and interpret project drawings, blueprints, and technical plans to ensure accuracy.
- Operate and train others on proper use of tools and equipment, including trowels, rakes, power screeds, saws, and finishing machines.
- Accurately calculate concrete quantities, measurements, slopes, and material ratios.
- Apply curing techniques appropriate for different weather conditions (hot, cold, or variable climates).
- Perform edging, jointing, and decorative finishes with precision.
- Ensure all work complies with project specifications, safety regulations, and DoD/UFC requirements.
- Coordinate with superiors, subcontractors, and other trades to maintain workflow.
- Enforce jobsite safety practices and participate in daily safety meetings.
- Maintain reliable attendance, transportation, and crew discipline.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of building materials, methods, and practices in concrete construction.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the concrete trade, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to calculate quantities, slopes, and percentages accurately.
- Solid arithmetic skills for measurements, angles, and material ratios.
- Knowledge of curing methods for hot and cold weather environments.
- Ability to work 10-hour days in physically demanding conditions.
- Familiarity with military/federal construction projects preferred.
- Must be able to take direction from superiors and work effectively within a team.
- Reliable transportation and ability to pass a federal background check required.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred; EM 385-1-1 training a plus.
- Ability to travel for remote projects at customer sites in other states and countries.
