Position Summary

The Admissions Manager oversees all business aspects of the Admissions Department based upon the mission, vision, and shared values of Navian Hawai’i. The Admissions Manager has complete oversight of the Admission Department, Admissions Nurses, and Intake Coordinators to drive business for the organization. The Admissions Manager will focus externally on growth, referrals, community relations, and education.

Primary Responsibilities

Management

  • Ensures that all day-to-day operations of the Admissions Department runs efficiently and effectively
  • Lead and oversee all Admissions staff, including hiring, development, performance management, and scheduling, ensuring adequate staffing coverage, accurate timekeeping, and continuity of patient admissions
  • Maintain working knowledge of the Conditions of Participation, Policies, and Procedures
  • Periodical review of admission audits completed by Admissions Supervisor to ensure that all pertinent paperwork and documentation is complete (i.e. NOE, CTI, ICD-10, HOPE, etc.)
  • Clear understanding of all insurance programs, requirements, and offerings related to hospice patients and their health coverage benefits
  • Maintains working knowledge of the admissions process as it applies to each member of the team and the ability to assist in emergencies
  • Proficient utilization of Electronic Medical Records and ensure proper training is provided to team members
  • Responsible for ensuring the strategic objectives related to growth and customer service are met
  • Visits, develops, and maintains relationships with referral sources
  • Recognizes opportunities for improving communication with referral sources and sharing information with Community Liaison or appropriate Manager
  • Reviews and evaluates the referral and admission workflow for maximum efficiency
  • Works closely with admissions team to improve referral to admission percentage and increase conversion rates
  • Actively participates in staff meetings, department meetings, in-service training, and other related activities as requested
  • Assists in the evaluation of meeting objectives
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to reflect department activities both successes and failures
  • Develop admission goals that are consistent with operational goals
  • Comprehends and communicates strategic objectives to clinical staff
  • Represent Navian Hawaii with professionalism, integrity, and ethical judgment in all internal and external interactions
  • Performs other duties as required by Director of Clinical Operations, COO and/or President and CEO

Patient Care & Compliance

  • Assist admissions in the field during staffing coverage and/or patient emergent needs
  • Demonstrates knowledge and shares expertise in aggressive symptom management
  • Make recommendations based on evaluation
  • In collaboration with medical staff, determine eligibility for hospice care
  • Assess patient/family psychosocial and spiritual needs, implementing appropriate level and plan of care with team
  • Assures documentation of all patient care activities by the admissions team is in accordance with hospice protocols
  • Implement protocols to assure compliance with all federal, state, and local health care regulations as they affect the provision of clinical services

  • Demonstrates good judgement in seeking and accepting guidance
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Well-developed presentation skills
  • Basic computer knowledge of MS applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook

Experience And Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Hawai'i
  • 2 years of experience in hospice
  • 1 year of supervisory experience with direct reports

Employment Requirements

  • A legally compliant background check
  • Drug screen & physical exam
  • Valid Hawai’i Driver’s License
  • TB clearance
  • CPR & BLS Certification

Working Conditions

  • Indoors in patient’s homes or Navian Hawai’i home, nursing and acute care facilities as well as outdoors in all types of weather

Work Location

This position is based in the field, requiring travel to patient homes, facilities, and offices throughout Oahu using a personal motor vehicle

Hours

  • Availability for 24 hour/7 day coverage
    • Back-up on-call shared with other managers
Salary

$94,000-$121,000 Annually
