Position Summary
We are seeking dependable and compassionate Wheelchair Drivers to provide safe, reliable non-emergency medical transportation for patients in the Des Moines area. Drivers will assist passengers requiring wheelchair transport to medical appointments, rehabilitation facilities, and other healthcare destinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport passengers using wheelchair-accessible vehicles
- Assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle
- Properly secure wheelchairs and mobility devices
- Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with passengers and healthcare staff
- Perform basic vehicle inspections and ensure cleanliness of the vehicle
- Follow all traffic laws and company safety policies
- Complete trip documentation as required
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must be 21 years old
- Ability to safely assist passengers with mobility challenges
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to pass background check, alcohol and drug screening
- Training in patient handling and wheelchair assistance
- Prior transportation or healthcare transport experience preferred but not required
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Pay: $17.37 per hour
- Sick Time (1 hour accrued every 30 worked)
