Summary

You will serve as an Equipment Specialist in the WHE Compliance Division, Transportation Product Line, Public Works Department NAVSTA Norfolk, of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic. The organizational title of this position is Senior Equipment Specialist (Cranes).

Duties

You will serve as a subject matter expert (SME)/consultant for all types of Weight Handling Equipment (WHE).You will provide expert technical guidance in the development of plans for the overhaul, repair, and modernization of WHE.You will serve as the SME in the configuration control management for an assigned class of cranes to ensure compliance with relevant standards, including NAVCRANECENINST 11450.2, NAVFAC P-307, and NAVSEA Crane Quality Manual.You will serve as a senior Project Manager for large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects related to Navy cranes.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Applying a wide range of technical disciplines (mechanical, structural, electrical) as a subject matter expert/consultant for all types of Weight Handling Equipment (WHE), including portal, mobile, tower, container, gantry, floating, and overhead traveling bridge cranes; 2) Applying knowledge of NAVFAC P-307 and other applicable instructions/policies to perform maintenance, testing, inspection of cranes and rigging gear; and 3) Managing projects and accomplishing objectives within resource constraints. Incumbent must be physically capable and willing to climb to heights of up to, and sometimes exceeding, 100 feet on cranes or crane booms to conduct inspections, which may occur as frequently as once a week or more. This position demands above-average agility and dexterity in the use of arms and legs to perform crane inspections. Incumbent must possess good vision and hearing and must successfully pas a pre-assignment physical exam to ensure fitness for the role's physical requirements.
