Summary

You will serve as an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic in the Public Works Department of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE.

Duties

You will diagnose, locate and repair malfunctions to the main operating mechanical components of large, complex heating, ventilation; air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC).You will lubricate moving parts and replaces air filters, v belts, electrical motors, pulleys, sheaves, bearings, fan shafts, etc.You will conduct visual and audible examination of equipment components by applying prescribed test procedures and equipment, and by explorations of probable reasons for equipment failure.You will perform maintenance, calibration, modification, installation, repair and replacement of analog and direct digital controls (DDC) systems and equipment.You will interpret complex multi-view drawings, sketches, manufacture’s specification etc.You will test for refrigerant leaks and uses a refrigerant recovery/ recycling station, to Environmental Protection Agency standards to safely reclaim, recycle and store the refrigerant before repairs can be made.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform the work of an Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision as demonstrated by1) Able to accomplish work in accordance with instructions; knowledge of safety regulations and procedures. 2) Ability to read and follow diagram.3) capable of lifting, carrying, and handling equipment up to 40 lbs. unassisted, over 40 lbs assisted. 4) Capable of working in both inside and outside conditions 5) valid driver's license6) capable of working independently. The incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position. This position requires rotating shift work.
