Summary of Position:
The Manager Business Development is responsible for leading commercial, market, and strategic planning activities that support NTEC/NavEnergy’s long-term growth objectives. This role combines business development, customer engagement, and contract origination with advanced market, resource, and portfolio analysis to support new and existing assets, specifically natural gas and coal-fired generation. The position focuses on developing and executing regional market strategies, negotiating and executing long-term purchase power agreements, evaluating generation resource and market opportunities, and supporting corporate planning, forecasting, and optimization efforts. The role works cross-functionally with transmission, finance, regulatory, engineering, and planning teams and represents the company externally with customers, utilities, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute business development and origination activities, including negotiation and execution of long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other offtake structures for new-build and existing generation assets.
- Develop, maintain, and grow relationships with utilities, large load customers and financial counterparties, particularly at the long-term resource planning and strategic level.
- Create and execute regional market and commercial strategies aligned with corporate objectives, risk management principles, and regulatory requirements.
- Support evaluation and development of new generation, repowering, and resource opportunities, including market analysis, site selection, transmission strategy, offtake structures, and project contracts.
- Collaborate with development, transmission, finance, engineering, regulatory, and forecasting teams to develop comprehensive customer solutions, pricing proposals, term sheets, RFP responses and deal models.
- Lead and support production cost modeling, portfolio modeling, and economic analysis to inform corporate budgets, financial forecasts, and long-range planning.
- Analyze and evaluate long-term physical and financial heat rate deal structures, fuel clauses, fuel source availability, and competing product economics for power purchase agreements, emerging technologies, and market trends to support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor competitive intelligence, including pricing trends, market fundamentals, transmission dynamics, policy developments, and emerging technologies.
- Build, maintain, and manage a qualified opportunity pipeline, tracking opportunities from origination through execution.
- Prepare and present internal and external reports, analyses, and presentations for senior management, customers, regulators, and other stakeholders.
- Support long-term commercial and portfolio optimization strategies, including risk analysis and scenario modeling.
- Represent the company in industry forums, utility meetings, regulatory proceedings, and external committees as appropriate.
- Provide leadership on cross-functional strategic initiatives that support business development and corporate objectives
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience gained through progressively responsible roles.
- MBA or advanced degree in Business, Engineering, or related discipline preferred.
- Ten (10) or more years of related experience in the energy sector, preferably involving business development, resource planning, power markets, commercial origination, project development, or commodity price forecasting.

The employee must frequently lift, carry, and/or move up to 15 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds. Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, squat, and occasionally crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Environment: Works in office environment and site environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Working outdoors in all weather conditions; working in plant environment; working in shop environment; and working in the cab of equipment or vehicle.

Salary : $160,000 - $180,000
