Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Controller, the Junior Accountant performs general accounting functions, such as balance sheet and accounts reconciliation, data for operating statistics and/or financial purposes, assists accounts payable and receivables when needed, assists with audits, maintains a proper filing system, and performs other functions as required. The Junior Accountant must maintain confidentiality of all privileged information at all times.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Monitor and verify proper coding for expenditures to comply with funding and reporting requirements, and standard accounting procedures.
• Construct and review routine spreadsheet applications for internal accounting purposes.
• Assist with analyzing, reconciling, balancing, and maintaining accounting records.
• Perform accounts receivable and payables when required.
• Perform balance sheet accounts reconciliations monthly upon Finance Controller designation.
• Assist in the preparation of required journal entries during month-end and year-end closings.
• Assist in providing inventory control of supplies and equipment including fixed asset ledgers.
• Maintain the Fixed Assets and associated depreciation schedules as a part of month end. • Support month-end and year-end close process.
• Assist with the annual financial statement audit.
• Assist in preparing the annual budget. Monitor budget(s), expenditures, and expenditure variances.
• Ensure strict confidentiality of financial records.
• Contribute to a team effort and accomplish related results as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance, or the equivalent of four (4) years of experience in accounting or in a relevant field.
• 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the healthcare setting.
• Must be able to successfully pass the Employee Health Program requirements and background investigation.
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications:
• Knowledge of the basic accounting cycle and functions.
• Knowledge and understanding of computerized accounting systems.
• Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in English.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to reach and grasp objects; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
