What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time or Full-time Instructional Aide position at Flagstaff Junior Academy?
POSITION SUMMARY: Instructional aides support general education and special education teachers in meeting the instructional, behavioral, and socio-emotional needs of students. They implement teaching strategies and methods that support the success of students in a variety of settings: small-group pull-out sessions, whole-class push-in support, and 1-on-1 assistance to students. They support daily supervision of students during morning and recess times. Flagstaff Junior Academy has early-release every Friday; staff are done by 1:00 p.m. and supports instructional aides who want to earn extra pay through afterschool tutoring, committee participation, etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Ability to obtain an Arizona fingerprint clearance card
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Post-secondary coursework or AA degree
2. Experience working with children and/or in schools
3. First Aid/CPR certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
1. Ability to effectively supervise children
2. Select and use best methods and procedures appropriate for the teaching and learning situation and student
3. Basic knowledge of childhood growth and development
4. General knowledge of academic subjects relevant to the position’s assignment
5. Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions
6. Ability to work well with students, staff, and families

10. Required to have prompt, regular attendance
