Summary
The Buyer is responsible for managing day-to-day procurement activities to ensure continuity of supply for production and business operations. This role focuses on placing purchase orders, monitoring supplier performance, following up on deliveries, and partnering with cross-functional teams including Sourcing, Contract manufacturing, Planning, Production, Quality, Engineering, and Finance.
The Buyer acts as a key point of contact for suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve supply chain issues, support operational priorities, and maintain accurate purchasing data. This position is based in the Schaumburg/Chicago area to support local office operations, production activities, and distribution functions.

This position is based in the Schaumburg/Chicago area to support local office operations, production activities, and distribution functions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Place and manage purchase orders (POs) in accordance with business requirements and ensure process supplier order confirmations.
- Monitor open orders and proactively realign delivery schedules as needed to ensure on-time delivery and resolve delays.
- Support invoice resolution and purchasing-related discrepancies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for supplier-related operational issues.
- Communicate supply constraints and delivery risks to sourcing, contract manufacturing, Planning teams and escalate supplier performance concerns when required.
- Support supplier NCR (Non-Conformances) disposition activities and coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECO/MCO) for production parts.
- Maintain accurate master data and purchasing attributes within ERP systems.
Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or an Associates degree with five years related experience and/or training.
- IIPMM or APICS certification preferred.
- Must have 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Extensive ERP applications knowledge (Oracle/EBS, would be advantageous).
- Good working knowledge of regulatory expectations in medical device industry including industry standards QSR, ISO13485, and MDD.
- Mature judgment, problem solving and decision-making ability.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
