What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician position at NATURAL GAS FUEL SYSTEMS LLC?
SUMMARY: The Field Service Technician is responsible for handling service support requests, identifying and establishing warrantable failures with suppliers, reviewing customer warranty repair orders for part and labor allowances. Travel (up to 50%) may be required to address service events as well as service and installation training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow company and customer safety policies, quality and production procedures
- Provide exceptional customer service and technical support of products
- Manage all installs, removal, modification, repair, maintenance, test, and inspection tasks
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical or technical problems and determine proper solutions
- Respond to service requests, providing technical service and maintenance support at assigned customer locations in and out of local territory
- Utilize vehicles, tools and equipment while following operating instructions and adhering to safety standards
- Utilize blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's installation manuals
- Work safely with high pressure systems up to 5,000 psi
- Lead field service repair teams during recalls and campaigns
- Represent as POC at customer locations, help drive service sales, build relationships
- Evaluate situations and determine the best way to proceed as well as keeping the customers informed of progress and status of the repairs and progress
- Communicate and interact with customers and staff across multiple departments in a positive, courteous and professional manner to earn long-term relationships
- Develop a thorough understanding of CCFT products
- Complete and submit all paperwork/digital forms and reports in a timely fashion
- Maintain current working knowledge of local and national codes where applicable
- Capture Voice of Customer data whenever possible to help improve products/processes
- Must be able to travel with the ability to leave on short notice to meet customer expectations
- Manage/maintain vehicle and on-board inventory organization, audits, and transport tasks
- Assist with shipping parts from assigned mobile inventory to customers as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of five years’ related experience in natural gas fuel systems, or 2 years in natural gas field with additional experience in troubleshooting and repair. Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair experience preferred. Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Methodologies is a plus.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: Must possess a current and valid driver license with a driving record that meets the insurability guidelines set forth by the company’s insurance carrier and a current CNG Category 3 license from Texas Railroad Commission. Must obtain Fuel System Inspector certification within 90 days of starting position.
Must have a clean driving record and be able to meet company requirements to drive company owned non-CDL vehicles. Must be able to obtain a passport within 90 days of starting position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
