Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant and/or Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment for pets. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of our facility, ensuring that all animals receive the highest level of care and attention.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising pets.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, cages, condos and common areas.
- Assist with animal restraint during veterinary examinations or procedures.
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff.
- Engage with pet owners to provide updates on their animals and answer any questions.
- Assist with bathing, grooming, and administering medications to animals as needed.
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed to protect both animals and staff.
- Assist the doctor and technicians with hospitalized patients and appointments.
- Answer phone calls to aid in taking appointments and answering clients questions.
Experience
- Previous experience in a kennel, veterinary clinic, or similar setting is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of animal restraint techniques and basic veterinary care is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners.
- Ability to handle dogs of various breeds and temperaments safely.
- Applicant MUST be dependable.
- Strong communication skills.
- Must be physically capable of performing tasks that require lifting, bending, and being on your feet for extended periods.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being.
