Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work alongside our veterinarians and technicians to provide high-quality medical care to animals. Your responsibilities will include assisting in exams, performing basic medical procedures, and helping clients with pet care needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during exams and medical procedures.
- Restrain animals safely during exams and treatments.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Collect samples (e.g., blood, urine) and assist with diagnostic tests.
- Monitor animals pre- and post-surgery or treatment.
- Prepare and maintain medical equipment and surgical tools.
- Ensure a clean and organized treatment area.
- Educate clients on animal care, nutrition, and treatment plans.
- Assist in maintaining patient records and updating information as needed.
- Help with kennel duties, including feeding, cleaning, and caring for animals in the clinic.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting (preferred).
- Knowledge of animal care and handling techniques.
- Comfortable working with a variety of animals, including dogs and cats.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work with a high level of accuracy.
- Basic knowledge of veterinary medical terminology is a plus.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and enthusiastic about animal care.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Veterinary Assistant certification (e.g., CVA, LVT, or RVT).
- Experience with veterinary software (e.g., Avimark).
