IV Suite Technician
JOB SUMMARY
IV Suite Technician (IV Tech): The IV Technician’s primary job is to administer micro-nutrient IV therapy to patients according to established clinic protocols. This person will also draw blood for a variety of labs and administer injections. Secondarily, this position may also include providing medical assistance to the clinic.
The position is hourly and requires a 24-40 hour commitment between Monday and Friday during normal business hours. We generally have two people in this position and between them all five workdays need to be covered.
The IV Tech reports to the clinic physicians. The right person must be a self-starter, energetic, friendly, great at multi-tasking, collaborate well with a team, and be proficient in computer technology. They must be quick-thinking and able to deal with potential emergency situations calmly and effectively.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Able to become proficient at preparing and administering micro-nutrient IV infusions, IM injections, and blood draws.
· Possess good time management skills, specifically related to initiating and concluding IV treatments.
· Attentive to patients. Closely monitor patient response to therapy. Able to recognize signs of pathology or adverse reactions, provide immediate effective assistance and advise the supervising physician appropriately.
· Able to manage multiple patients simultaneously and efficiently.
· Work collaboratively with ordering clinicians.
· Analyze the stock-on-hand and its turnover, to keep up with the anticipated needs of the clinic. Manage orders to replenish stock, avoiding insufficiencies or an excessive surplus.
- Continue ongoing relationships with vendors to achieve the most cost-effective pricing for the clinic. Regularly conduct comparison pricing.
- Receive product shipments, unpack, log and stock in a timely manner, keeping the area tidy.
· Learn the software applications used within the practice and provide direction and resources to improve and integrate these applications.
· Promote goodwill and teamwork in a busy practice.
· Maintain confidentiality with reference to patient records.
· Uphold the positive culture of the medical office by always treating visitors in a friendly, kind, welcoming and compassionate manner.

· Physical requirements:
- Requires the use of both arms and both hands with a full range of motion.
- Requires the ability to use a computer and mouse for data entry all day.
- Must be able to constantly walk, stand, use fine motor manipulations, grip, bend, twist, turn, and reach outward for the duration of the work shift.
- Must be able to frequently reach above the chest.
- Occasionally lift to 40lbs
- Must be able to occasionally sit, squat, kneel, and climb a small ladder as needed.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Provide medical assistance to the clinic which may include:
- Assist physicians in completing medical paperwork for patients.
- Teach patients how to correctly use lab kits at home.
- Assist physicians in responding to patient correspondence.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Infusion/IV experience of 1 years preferred.
· Phlebotomy experience of 2 years preferred.
· Basic Life Support (CPR) training certification required prior to starting job.
· Medical assistant certification and infusion therapy certification preferred.
· Background check required prior to starting job.
· Friendly and compassionate disposition
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Strong interpersonal communication skills; excellent written and oral communication capacity
· Proficiency in computer systems to include basic documents and spreadsheet processing, as well as general ability to use computers effectively. Must become proficient in clinic’s electronic health records (EHR) system.
· Willingness to adhere to protocols for sterile compounding as found in USP 797
· Team player with an eye toward collaboration and problem-solving in a small office environment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
· Compensation is hourly $18-22 depending on experience to start.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
