What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regional Director of Operations - Hospitality (South Atlantic Region) position at Natson Hotel Management?
The Regional Director of Operations oversees the performance and daily operations of a portfolio of economy-brand hotels across Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. This leadership role is responsible for driving operational excellence, increasing revenue, improving guest satisfaction, and supporting hotel management teams.
Working closely with the Vice President of Operations, the Regional Director provides leadership, coaching, and strategic direction to General Managers to ensure company standards are met and business goals are achieved. This role monitors hotel performance, identifies opportunities for improvement, implements operational initiatives, and fosters a positive, guest-focused culture across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exceptional Leadership: Guide and direct hotel management in development, production, promotion, and financial aspects of the company’s services within assigned region; Reviews individual hotel’s performances to analyze results and implements improvement where appropriate; Identifies and pinpoints opportunities, areas needing to be re-engineered, reorganized, restructured, down-sized, or eliminated; review financial performance and provide direction and support in developing strategies to grow revenue, create sales, enhance service, and improve quality
- Communication: Work in conjunction with the General Managers to actively manage key property issues.
- Brand Standards: Ensure all brand standards are in place and help implement any new or updated brand initiatives as needed; Track QA/brand visits and inspections and achieve outstanding results; Proactively maintain positive relationships with major brand contacts
- Sales and Marketing: Understand the strengths and weaknesses of the competition and finds opportunities for the hotel to exceed the competition
- Property Maintenance: Proactively maintain positive relationships with major brand contacts; Adhere to all franchise procedures and regulations to assures each hotel adheres to standard operating procedures; Ensure hotels are properly maintained by following mandatory preventative maintenance plans and guidelines; Monitor and promote each hotel’s Risk Management efforts and monitor the effectiveness of their safety committees/teams
- Cost Control: Assist in the development of meaningful, achievable hotel budgets and other short and long- term hotel strategic goals; Assist in the development of meaningful, achievable hotel budgets and other short and long- term hotel strategic goals; Ensure that costs are controlled throughout the operational departments and results are analyzed regularly to highlight problem areas and take appropriate action
- Guest Satisfaction: Plan, direct, and coordinate the service delivery of all operational departments in order to meet and exceed guest service expectations; Review and address guest feedback with hotel managers in order to achieve positive outcomes and high levels of customer satisfaction
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree – Hospitality/Hotel Management preferred
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of work experience in hotel service dealing with multiple brand and units; Experience in developing and managing budgets and revenue proposals
- Travel: Ability to travel extensively within the South Atlantic Region (VA, NC, SC)
- Brand Knowledge: Strong knowledge of multiple national Economy hotel brands, product positioning requirements and future brand standard strategies
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Technical Skills: Competence in Word and Excel
