What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Research Analyst position at Nationwide Court Services?
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Conducting searches across various platforms and databases to locate individuals and entities for purposes of effectuating service of process
- Performing skip tracing and general legal research
- Preparing heirship affidavits for clients
The ideal candidate will be a junior attorney who can be trained in these functions and possesses:
- A strong understanding of service of process rules, particularly service through the New York Secretary of State and the New York State Department of Financial Services
- Knowledge of real estate and Surrogate’s Court practice, including the ability to review and analyze deeds, mortgages, judgments, and surrogate’s filings
- Familiarity with reviewing legal actions in New York via NYSCEF or similar systems
- The ability to research and navigate court systems in other states
Additional responsibilities include, as needed, drafting affidavits and affirmations detailing all efforts undertaken to locate individuals or entities.
The role will also involve the management and coordination of traverse hearings on behalf of our law firm clients. This includes:
- Interpreting court orders to determine the issues being raised regarding service
- Providing supporting documentation and insight related to service attempts
- Preparing process servers for testimony as witnesses
Once fully trained, the candidate will be expected to communicate directly with clients regarding service-related issues, including explaining why certain actions were or were not taken. These matters often require drafting detailed affirmations outlining the company’s procedures and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
