Summary:

The Clinical Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the university and external clinical sites, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration. The role involves overseeing clinical experiences, evaluating faculty performance, and maintaining relationships with cooperating agencies. The Clinical Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that clinical experiences align with program standards and academic excellence while supporting students, faculty, and partnering organizations.


Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Identify and establish partnerships with cooperating agencies for clinical experiences and academic opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Faculty to ensure clinical experience compliance with course requirements, policies, and standards.
  • Clinical & Low and Hi-Fidelity Lab Environment Management: Upholds a professional and organized clinical and lab setting conducive to effective learning and student success.
  • Orient students to required documents, training, and processes for clinical experiences, ensuring thorough preparation.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the academic program, ensuring professional competencies of clinical resources involved in the program are met.
  • Assist the Director of the Nursing Program with contract processing and policy development to meet clinical site requirements.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Nursing regarding budgetary requests related to clinical practices and skills laboratories.
  • Conduct regular rounds at clinical sites, maintaining close communication with both faculty and external partners.
  • Monitor faculty and student compliance with clinical site requirements to ensure high standards of academic excellence.
  • Evaluate cooperating agencies and faculty performance, compile statistical reports, and develop action plans based on findings.
  • Collect, analyze, and respond to evaluations of cooperating agencies and clinical faculty, ensuring quality improvement.
  • Mediate conflicts and address complaints between students, faculty, and representatives of cooperating agencies during clinical experiences.
  • Oversee the evaluation process for clinical experience courses and ensure adherence to academic policies.
  • Coordinate the submission of student and faculty documentation to cooperating agencies, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Support the orientation of students entering the clinical program, providing guidance and resources as needed.
  • Attend faculty meetings, committee meetings, and accreditation sessions, and participate in cross-campus activities when required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, in accordance with institutional regulations and policies, and adapt to the evolving needs of the Nursing Program.

Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing with current licensure and registration. Masters Preferred. 
  • Valid Nurse license in the State of Florida or compact license. 
  • Proficiency in the required nursing competencies.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Nursing expertise.

Physical Demands:

  • Must have the ability to stand and sit frequently throughout the day, travel throughout the school complex, reach vertical for overhead use as well as horizontally.
  • Must be able to use a computer and telephone or headset equipment.  
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs., use stairways, perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day, and function in an environment with constant interruptions.

Work Environment:

Work environment is fast-paced, requires high energy, can be stressful at times, and is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
