Membership Development Coordinator

National Union of Healthcare Workers
Emeryville, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 4/14/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/10/2026

The National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) is searching for a talented, driven individual to serve as Membership Development Coordinator supporting NUHW’s Behavioral Health organizing program. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of strong base building, expanding member engagement, and building a vibrant, inclusive professional community. This position is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, strategic, organized, and energized by connecting with people.

Behavioral health workers are at the forefront of many of NUHW’s campaigns, advocating for safe staffing, ethical care delivery, and meaningful access to mental health services. NUHW’s Membership Development Coordinator will play a central role in expanding and sustaining our union’s behavioral health organizing and Associate Membership program, which connects unrepresented mental health workers, students, trainees, and allies to organizing, education, and collective action. This role focuses on outreach, recruitment, engagement, and relationship development with behavioral health workers, trainees, and supporters. The coordinator will help create structures and build pipelines into organizing campaigns, leadership development, and collective action.

This is a unique, multi-faceted role that integrates training, communications, program coordination, and database-driven membership management. It is ideal for a high-energy individual who thrives on variety and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.

The coordinator will play a significant role in defining and shaping this position. The primary focus of the coordinator will be to assess the necessary requirements, then create the foundational structure, and finally oversee the implementation of those plans, including identifying subsequent resource needs.
