Lead Statistical Assistant

This job opportunity is located in the Survey Processing Branch, National Processing Center (NPC), Jeffersonville, IN. This position leads employees in statistical assistant assignments in support of programs. Assists statisticians in collecting, processing, analyzing, editing, and presenting data.

To qualify for the position of Lead Statistical Assistant, at GS-1531-8, you must meet the minimum and/or basic qualification requirements listed below.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-08, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes having practical knowledge of analytical and evaluative techniques to research and gather pertinent data from a variety of sources and use it to analyze the information received to verify it is in tolerance with established guidelines; edit data to be used for statistical reporting.

Education cannot be substituted at this grade.

Responsibilities:

The individual selected for this position will:

• Prepares recurring reports for publications, including preparing text and tables and evaluating data for accuracy;
• Recognized unexpected problems or variations in results and develops preliminary interpretations or tentative recommendations;
• Performs disclosure analysis to assure adherence to confidentiality and determines necessity for imputation;
• Initiates contact with and/or responds to contact from respondents or subject-matter specialist to resolve reporting problems of varying complexity;
• Comments on new procedures or revisions and makes suggestions to meet all processing needs.
