Location: Washington, DC / Hybrid (2 Days In-Office, 3 Days Remote)
Position Overview
The Membership Specialist supports NMAC’s efforts to grow and strengthen its membership network. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of membership administration, communications, and engagement, ensuring an exceptional member experience at both the individual and organizational levels.
The ideal candidate is customer service–oriented, organized, and eager to help build a vibrant, engaged member community aligned with NMAC’s mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Administration
- Process new member applications, renewals, and payments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the membership database.
- Support reconciliation of membership revenue with the Finance team.
- Issue acknowledgments and renewal notices promptly.
Member Engagement & Retention
- Provide outstanding customer service and respond to member inquiries.
- Assist in implementing onboarding, retention, and renewal strategies.
- Support the coordination of member events, webinars, and networking opportunities.
- Help re-engage lapsed members and identify potential new members.
Communications & Marketing
- Assist in developing and distributing member newsletters and announcements.
- Support the creation of promotional materials and web content for membership.
- Collaborate with Communications and Development teams on outreach efforts.
Data & Reporting
- Track and analyze membership metrics, trends, and feedback.
- Prepare reports for internal and board review.
- Maintain data integrity and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years in membership services, customer relations, or nonprofit administration.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with CRM or membership systems (e.g., Salesforce, Neon).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
Compensation and Benefits
- In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, well-being, and growth of our team members.
- The salary range is $65,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
