Position Overview
The Director of Marketing is a key member of NMAC’s Marketing Team that is focused on articulating and amplifying the value proposition of NMAC, its divisional efforts, and its experts who focus on ending the HIV epidemic through a health equity lens. This role is an excellent opportunity to join one of the nation’s leading HIV and health equity organizations whose team reflects the communities we serve. This role is that of a primary executionist focused on implementing initiatives and monitoring outcomes for NMAC’s Marketing Strategy in alignment with the agency’s new Strategic Plan and the new CEO’s vision to scale the organization. With opportunities for creative input, this role is less about creating strategy and all about “implementing the strategy in tangible ways.”
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy Execution
- Support the CMO to execute an agency-wide, cross-divisional, and multi-stakeholder focused marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with newly established organizational priorities and mission.
- Co-lead the expansion and execution of the Digital Content Strategy across website, social media, email content to grow NMAC’s presence in diverse spaces
- Support marketing, messaging, and community engagement around planning and execution of major public events, conferences, and convenings to advance advocacy goals and donor engagement.
- Supervise, support, and mentor the Marketing Manager
- Co-manage relationships with external vendors along with Marketing Manager
Digital Content Strategy Expansion and Execution
- Execute annual action plan for 3 social media platforms to cultivate an audience-centric voice and create tailored content development for increased digital engagement
- Co-execute action plan for website to increase traffic, improve user experience, and expand content areas
- Lead and co-manage content development processes via team tools such as Editorial Calendar, Newsletter Tracker, Website Navigation
- Ensure consistent use of compelling, culturally responsive messaging that resonates with diverse communities, stakeholders, influencers, and key partners to expand NMAC’s value proposition
- Ensure editorial quality control and message consistency across all platforms, products, and channels.
- Support digital analytics gathering and analysis efforts and monitor the digital dashboard to assess quantitative engagement and qualitative relationships
- Identify and coordinate marketing opportunities across departments to integrate communications into programmatic and policy campaigns.
Strategic Priorities and Brand (Re)Development
- Support the development of messaging, materials development, and staff requirements for a phased Strategic Priorities rollout for internal and external stakeholders
- Organize and collate input from listening sessions from select funders, community leaders, and organizational partners to update Marketing Plan and internal communications plan
- Support development of a phased brand rollout plan, including key messages for CEO and other staff, refreshed brand guidelines, brand products, and messaging to establish and reinforce NMAC’s new brand identity in alignment with the CEO’s vision, and evolving community needs
Social Media Management
- Execute and expand content and platform engagement for each of NMAC’s 3 established platforms for audience-specific needs: LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook
- Strengthen audience engagement and voice per platform to reach the full spectrum of NMAC’s stakeholders
- Coordinate divisional needs and identify social media marketing opportunities at agency and divisional levels
- Collaborate with graphic designer to proactively produce brand-aligned digital designs to share visual and text-based content
- Create and edit video content for native platform usage to promote NMAC’s variety of in-person convenings (annual conferences and divisional events)
- Coordinate, assess, and tailor content according to quarterly social media analytics
- Conduct weekly social media listening to retrieve trends, language, potential topics and influencers, and other ways to expand agency relevance
Media Relations
- Co-create a hybrid media strategy that blends paid and earned media for building NMAC’s media presence
- Research and expand NMAC’s media lists to align with expanded organizational focus areas (topic, population etc.)
- Support information needs from journalists and media outlets focused on NMAC’s expanded portfolio of topics/issues to insert HIV into larger conversations
- Support the design and coordinate paid media initiatives for targeted NMAC initiatives and provide appropriate media/public engagement training for NMAC staff
- Co-develop media-related content to educate and inform reporters (issue briefs, culturally appropriate language, press releases etc.)
Team Building
- Ideate and support the Chief Marketing Officer with deepening marketing effort across the agency
- Coach, mentor, and support the Marketing Manager (direct supervision) to create a symbiotic workflow across all digital platforms
- Strengthen relationships, and identify/fulfil marketing needs across divisions to scale NMAC’s full scope presence as a leader in the health equity space
- Lead with joy, kindness, and grace to grow the team and the work
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree and 10-12 years of experience with marketing/communications, community outreach, program development, or community mobilization
- Strong planning and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
- Demonstrated success leading integrated agency, program, or campaign marketing focused on communities of color and/or LGBTQ communities
- Experience with developing content across digital platforms for community-focused organizations, specifically people of color and /or LGBTQ communities
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience
- Fluent spoken and written Spanish(LatAm) is a bonus
Compensation and Benefits
- In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, well-being, and growth of our team members.
- The salary range is $115,000 - $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
