Job Summary

The Dispatcher at National Maintenance Supply is responsible for the efficient and timely coordination of our daily delivery routes. This critical role involves managing a fleet of 9-10 trucks transporting pallets of supplies across all five NYC boroughs, Nassau and Suffolk County, and occasionally into New Jersey. The ideal candidate will use route optimization software, maintain constant communication with drivers and customers, and ensure operational excellence from the moment the day begins.

Responsibilities

• Utilize routing software to build, optimize, and maintain efficient daily delivery routes for 9-10 trucks.
• Manage a high volume of stops, ensuring drivers successfully complete 15-25 deliveries per route.
• Add and adjust stops throughout the day as new orders are submitted and priority changes occur.
• Proactively call customers to schedule and confirm delivery appointments and windows.
• Maintain continuous, clear, and professional communication with drivers throughout the day, providing direction, addressing issues, and confirming delivery completion.
• Leverage on-board GPS and camera access via Samsara to monitor the fleet, track progress, and ensure driver safety and adherence to routes.
• Act as the central point of contact between drivers, the Customer Service team, and Sales Representatives to ensure all orders are completed accurately and on time.
• Oversee the overall condition of the fleet, ensuring all trucks are properly maintained.
• Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance and necessary service appointments for vehicles.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Dispatcher, Route Planner, or in a similar logistics/transportation role is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with route optimization software; direct experience with Samsara is a significant advantage.
• Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities; capable of managing multiple moving parts simultaneously in a high-volume setting.
• Excellent verbal communication skills for professional interactions with customers, drivers, and internal teams.
• Strong geographical knowledge of the five boroughs of NYC, Long Island (Nassau/Suffolk), and key areas of New Jersey.
• Reliability and punctuality are critical, given the early 6:00 AM start time.
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
