POSITION SUMMARY
The Middle Office Analyst – Investment Operations is responsible for supporting the execution, control, and reconciliation of investment-related activities within the Life & Investment Division. This role ensures the accurate processing of investment orders, integrity of portfolio records, and proper flow of client funds across custodial and operational accounts.
The position acts as a key operational link between Finance, Operations, custodial banks, brokers, and asset management partners, ensuring that all investment transactions are executed in accordance with approved instructions, reconciled accurately, and properly recorded.
In the start-up phase of the division, the Middle Office Analyst plays a critical role in establishing operational controls, reconciliation processes, and cash management workflows to support the March 2026 launch and ensure a strong control environment from day one.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Trade Execution & Investment Operations
- Execute and monitor investment orders in coordination with approved brokers and asset managers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of instructions.
- Confirm that all trades have been properly executed, matched, and settled in accordance with trade instructions.
- Track trade lifecycle events, including execution, settlement, and confirmation.
- Reconciliation & Control
- Perform daily and periodic reconciliation of investment portfolios between internal records and custodian bank statements.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner, escalating issues where necessary.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation supporting all reconciliations and adjustments.
- Cash Flow & Treasury Coordination
- Ensure proper flow of client funds into and out of investment accounts, including subscriptions, redemptions, and transfers.
- Set up and monitor financial transfers between custodian accounts and business operating accounts.
- Coordinate with Finance and Operations teams to ensure accurate cash positioning and liquidity management.
- Broker & Custodian Interaction
- Serve as the operational point of contact with brokers, custodians, and external investment partners for trade execution and settlement queries.
- Coordinate confirmations, settlements, and operational issues with counterparties to ensure smooth transaction processing.
- Portfolio Records & Reporting Support
- Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date portfolio records, including transaction history, positions, and cash balances.
- Ensure proper documentation and record retention for all investment-related activities.
- Support the preparation of internal reports related to investment activity and portfolio status.
- Accounting & Financial Reporting Support
- Provide detailed transaction data and reconciliation support to the accounting team for journal entries and financial reporting.
- Assist in ensuring alignment between investment records and accounting systems.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
- Reconciliation Accuracy: Timely and accurate reconciliation of portfolios and cash balances.
- Trade Processing Efficiency: Timeliness and accuracy of trade execution and settlement monitoring.
- Break Resolution: Speed and effectiveness in identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Cash Flow Accuracy: Proper execution and tracking of all fund movements.
- Data Integrity: Accuracy and completeness of portfolio records and documentation.
- Operational Compliance: Adherence to internal controls, procedures, and audit requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in investment operations, middle office, fund administration, or custody-related roles.
- Strong understanding of trade lifecycle, settlement processes, and portfolio reconciliation.
- Experience working with custodian banks, brokers, or asset managers.
- Solid knowledge of cash management and financial controls.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; familiarity with financial systems or portfolio management tools is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Good communication skills and ability to coordinate across internal teams and external counterparties.
