Knowledge Required for the Position
Knowledge of AmeriCorps/Health Corps member requirements, Skill with Microsoft Office or other software for a variety of data processing operations involving a range of problem solving, record keeping, correspondence, and service tracking options.
Supervision
The supervisor assigns service activities, advises on changes in procedures, and is available for assistance when required
Review
The service activities are reviewed for accuracy through spot checks, through complaints from customers, and through observation of the member at service.
Guidelines
Written and oral guides provide specific instructions for doing service. Detailed guidelines exist, including regulations and directives, handbooks, precedents, industry standards, and files of previous projects. Guidelines are generally applicable, but the member independently makes adaptations in dealing with problems and unusual situations.
Complexity
Member has to develop, analyze, or evaluate information before the service position can progress. The facts or conditions of the service position are clear cut, predictable, and apply directly to the assignment.
Special Considerations
Unusual service hours, involving evenings, weekends, or long shifts. Health screening or service required.

- Receive comprehensive training in resource navigation with a focus on housing transportation, food access, childcare, career development, and more.
- Assess patient families for resource needs to improve access to pediatric primary care.
- Assist families in utilizing transportation services such as the Medical Assistance Transportation Program and UPMC Children's Lyft Program.
- Conduct follow-up outreach to assess service effectiveness and gather feedback.

- Developing and providing health education for the community
- Gathering data on critical issues impacting the community
- Utilizing partnerships and data to coordinate referrals
- Providing education to clients and referring them to providers
- Providing health education to at-risk populations
- Building relationships with community partners
- Conducting research, mapping community assets, or reviewing data to strengthen the ability to meet community needs
- Developing and/or providing staff education or training
- Engaging stakeholders to understand goals, needs, priorities, challenges, and opportunities
