The Commercial Credit Director is responsible for assisting the Commercial Credit Supervisor in coaching and developing the commercial credit analysts to provide underwriting and administrative support for NBC’s commercial lending functions. The Commercial Credit Director will provide guidance to the Commercial Bankers toward the achievement of credit quality and their administrative goals. This role will have loan approval authority and partner closely with the Chief Credit Officer to discuss and defend opportunities. The Commercial Credit Director will work with senior management and others to review, select, and assimilate systems, technology, and procedures to deliver a high-quality product effectively and efficiently to our customers. This role ensures compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal banking regulations.
Essential Duties:
- Credit Review/Approval: Decision credit requests up to the approval limit. Approve annual reviews. Oversee the creation/preparation of commercial credit memos. Supervise the preparation of the Bank Loan Committee agenda and materials.
- People Management: Oversee the Commercial Credit Supervisor in managing the Credit Analyst team and assist the Lead Collection Representative in managing the Collection team.
- Leadership: Loan portfolio management, including stress testing and monthly/quarterly reporting. Loan policy and underwriting guidelines. Assist in formulating and maintaining effective commercial credit policies, procedures, and practices to maintain the commercial loan portfolio’s quality and profitability. Manage existing and new software for credit memo preparation, approval, and loan portfolio administration. Compile performance statistics, analyze these figures, and present associated findings and insights to the Chief Credit Officer and management regularly. Assist with coaching commercial bankers on credit issues. Serve on the NBC Leadership Team (L2) and ACL committee. Perform all other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of banking experience in commercial credit underwriting and administration.
- Comprehensive banking background and extensive experience in commercial, real estate, and construction lending.
- Proven strong financial analysis and loan underwriting skills. Thorough knowledge of credit services and a complete understanding of loan policy.
- Demonstrated management, analytical, decision-making, and effective problem-solving skills.
- Extensive business and financial fundamentals understanding, with a mathematical aptitude and advanced accounting skills.
- Honor bank philosophies, policies, and expectations regarding core values, customer service, human resource policies, code of conduct, and ethics.

This position's full-time annualized starting salary range is $113,000 – 170,000, contingent on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation.
