What Does a Prep Cook Do?

• Prepares daily food items as assigned
• Maintains a clean, safe and organized kitchen and dish area
• Assists with prepping food items for specials
• Follows recipes, procedures, and presentation guidelines as set by management
• Restocks items as needed
• Ensures kitchen and restaurant have necessary clean items including plates, silverware, utensils, pots, pans, etc.
• Launders necessary items as assigned
• Additional duties as required

What Does It Take to be Successful as a Prep Cook?

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years’ experience in the restaurant/food and beverage or related industry preferred
• Food handling and general knowledge of basic cooking skills
• Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight frequently
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Sense of urgency and willingness to assist team members as needed
• Results-oriented with the ability to serve customers with humility and be a steward of Nation’s Best’s values
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while remaining adaptable and flexible
• Strong interpersonal skills with a willingness to consistently provide superior customer service skills
