JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a Research Scientist 5 position at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research (NKI) in Orangeburg, New York. We are looking for a highly motivated and independent researcher to investigate the role of the endocannabinoid system in inflammation using mouse model. This position involves the analysis of endocannabinoids, and the evaluation of cannabinoid receptor function and inflammation through biochemical and pharmacological approaches. This is a part-time position requiring effort dedicated to laboratory-based research activities.
JOB DUTIES:
Tasks and responsibilities include:
1) Perform analysis and quantification of endocannabinoids using LC-MS method.
2) Conduct cannabinoid receptor functional studies utilizing radioisotopic method.
3) Acquisition, analysis and interpretation of experimental data.
4) Contribute to preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.
5) Independently conduct experiments and also collaborate with interdisciplinary research team.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
1) Master's degree and six years of professional research experience in an appropriate field or Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
1) Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related field.
2) At least 5 years of hands-on research experience in studying and analyzing the endocannabinoid system.
3) Prior research experience in neurochemistry and immunology.
4) Expertise in the analysis of endocannabinoids using LC-MS method.
5) Strong experience in evaluating cannabinoid receptor function using radioisotopic assays.
6) Solid understanding of receptor pharmacology and signaling mechanisms.
Background Investigation/Justice Center Review Requirements:
