The Office of Nassau County Legislative District 2 is seeking a dedicated, organized, and community-focused Legislative Aide (Reduced Schedule)to support the operations of the district office, the Legislator and assist the Full-Time Legislative Assistant.
This position is designed to provide administrative, constituent service, and community engagement support in a reduced-hours capacity. The Legislative Aide will help ensure continuity of services, timely communication, and strong community relationships.

Role Summary
The Reduced Schedule Legislative Aide works under the supervision of the Legislator and/or Senior Legislative Assistant to support:
- Constituent services
- Office administration
- Communications and outreach
- Legislative and research functions
This position complements and supports the full-time Legislative Assistant role.
Work Schedule
- Reduced-hours, full-time schedule as assigned
- Schedule to be determined based on office needs
- Some evenings and weekends may be required
- Schedule adjustments must be approved in advance
Key Responsibilities
Constituent Services & Community Engagement
- Serve as a point of contact for constituents seeking assistance
- Assist with intake and documentation of constituent concerns
- Support casework tracking and follow-up
- Maintain professional and compassionate communication
- Assist in building relationships with community organizations, civic groups, and faith-based institutions
- Support outreach initiatives and community engagement efforts
- Attend community meetings and events as assigned
Legislative & Research Support
- Assist with research on constituent issues and local policies
- Support legislative and policy research projects
- Compile background materials and issue summaries
- Track relevant legislative and committee items
- Assist with Caucus and meeting preparation
Communications & Public Presence
- Assist with drafting newsletters, flyers, and public materials
- Support coordination with media and communications staff
- Help maintain the district website and social media platforms
- Identify community highlights and event opportunities
- Take photographs at events when needed
Office & Administrative Management
- Provide administrative and clerical support
- Assist with drafting correspondence and preparing spreadsheets
- Support scheduling and calendar management
- Organize files and digital records
- Maintain templates and shared-drive resources
- Support mailings and office communications
- Assist with maintaining constituent databases
Qualifications & Requirements Preferred Experience & Skills
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse communities
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms
Additional Considerations
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
- Professional demeanor and strong work ethic
- Must have access to a car for work-related travel
- Bilingual abilities (Spanish, Haitian Creole, etc.) strongly preferred but not required
- Prior community or government experience is a plus
- Flexibility for occasional evening and weekend work

Pay: $35,000.00 per year
