What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager of Resident Development position at Nashville Teacher Residency?
The Role: Nashville Teacher Residency seeks a Manager of Resident Development who will serve as a Site Manager and instructional coach to 8-12 Resident teachers and lead Subject Methods and Content Development course sequences.

Manager of Resident Development Responsibilities
- Lead a Subject Methods and Content Development course sequence.
- Facilitate the existing course sequences and make revisions as called for by supervisors to increase teacher focus on equitable instruction and alignment to the Praxis Content Exams, edTPA assessment/InTASC standards.
- Plan and execute 12 hybrid, practice-based classes per sequence that build new teacher pedagogical expertise and Resident content knowledge in both middle and secondary instruction.
- Provide content knowledge support to lead Residents to mastery on teacher certification exams.
- Manage and support ~10-12 NTR Residents and/or job-embedded, first-year teachers.
- Support Residents in classes and coaching to prepare and lead rigorous, equitable instruction in their Mentor Teachers’ classrooms.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at partner schools.
- Engage as an ambitious and critical team member to advance NTR’s work as an anti-oppressive organization that disrupts educational inequities through teacher preparation.
- Other responsibilities will be determined based on individual interest and expertise and the NTR team's needs, but will include one project management assignment aligned with the organization’s strategic plan and coordination of one seasonal event (i.e., community-building holiday party).
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- 4 years classroom/education experience with a demonstrated record of data-driven instruction.
- Outstanding pedagogical knowledge, passion for the content area, and love of teaching.
- Experience working with racially, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse populations.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
- Adept organizational skills and experience managing details across multiple projects and priorities.
- Coaching, mentoring, and instructional leadership experience.
- Bachelor's degree in education or another field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise with trauma-informed practices, culturally responsive practices, special education, and/or linguistically sustaining practices
- Expertise in embedding technology into instruction to enhance adult learning
- edTPA and subject-specific Praxis content knowledge and experience
- Knowledge of the Tennessee educational system and professional requirements
Salary: The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000, with full benefits, including health, dental, and vision, 401K matching, monthly cell phone stipend, and generous paid time off.
